So you want a change and you’re seeking for a new job but where do you begin? You know that roles won’t come to you but how do you approach your job hunt strategically? Follow these tips and you may be able to find the right role quickly:

1. Consider Carefully. What exactly are you wanting to do? Do you want a related position to the one you have been in or is there something in particular you’ve always wanted to do? Focus on what you really want, to avoid wasting time applying for roles you don’t actually want.

2. Update your CV. Your CV is fundamental when it comes to job hunting. You will be judged straightaway on your CV so make sure it’s up to date, well presented and makes the perfect impression. Ask friends or family to read it through for you and give their impression of you.

3. Job seeking is 9 to 5. If you are unfortunate enough to find yourself without a job then look at your job hunt as a job in itself. You should be prepared to spend all day hunting, applying and speaking to those in Brighton who can assist you. Sadly, job seeking can be a time heavy activity and the more time you can put in to it the more likely you are to get a good outcome.

4. Ask your friends. Don’t forget that your friends and family can be a useful job hunting tool. Ask around and see if anyone has any suggestions for you. Maybe there is an job where they work that could suit you. You can’t know unless you ask!

5. Target Brighton organisations. If there is a particular sector that you would like to work in then research the local organisations who might be requiring someone like you. Some personal experience for you: When I was looking for work I decided I wanted to give estate agency a try so I drew up a list of all the Brighton agencies and dropped my CV in to them. Out of the 14 CVs I handed in I got 3 interviews and was offered 2 jobs, none of which were actually advertising roles at that time! This strategy could work for you too so get on the phone, in the car or have a walk round. No one is going to object to you dropping in a CV and may respect the fact that you came to them. They are also more likely to remember you when it comes to choosing candidates for interview.

6. Visit Brighton Job Centre. The Brighton Job Centre is there to assist you so make use of them. Go in and talk to one of their advisers who should be able to assist you with aspects such as your CV and you can also check their vacancy database to see what’s available.

7. Visit Brighton recruitment agencies. Brighton has lots of recruitment agencies so make use of them. Don’t forget that they charge their clients not you so they are a free way of getting your CV out to organisations. They can also advise you on your CV, interview techniques and other recruitment related matters. They may also be aware of jobs coming up so you could have the chance to be the first to apply for a job.

8. Check The Brighton Argus. These papers show Brighton employment so can be very useful in your job hunt. Large Brighton organisations and Brighton & Hove City Council / East Sussex County Council in particular advertise their jobs in The Brighton Argus so make sure you check them every week and get your application in quickly.

9. Check Job Boards. Brighton dedicated job boards such as Brighton jobs can be more useful when looking for a opening in Brighton than popular large sites such as Monster. You are more likely to find a smaller local employer advertising in a local job board (which are usually much cheaper) then a multinational one.

10. Don’t give up! Finally don’t despair! There are lots of vacancies out there and it is often a matter of time. It might be that you have to think about retraining but there are lots of options and help available out there if you know where to look.

Good luck with your job hunt!

How to get to Preston park in Brighton by bus?

what bus would i need to get from the city center of brighton to get to preston park? x

Have you ever climbed out of your car and walked away in anger because you were being delayed by one red light or traffic jam after another? Probably not. You continued your journey in spite of all those exasperating delays and achieved the satisfaction of reaching your destination. You did not give up.

Travis Sago, the article marketing expert, has stated correctly that we accept the delays caused by red traffic lights without getting out of our cars and giving up on our journey. But in other parts of our lives we give up too easily when we encounter even one ‘red light’ or obstacle. We, thus, fail to enjoy the results of completing these other ‘journeys’.

When we drive, we continue on, undefeated by the red lights, until we reach the end of our planned route. But when we run into the equivalent of a red light in our ordinary lives, we too often give up without a fight. When we encounter business and relationship problems, we meekly surrender before we reach the ‘end of the road’ and achieve our goals.

Whether we drive or travel by train or by any other means of transport we complete our journey. In August, 2008, my sister caught a train from Liverpool to Euston. Delays were announced because of fires on freight trains further down the line.

People in the UK are so used to inexplicable train delays that one comedian, Bill Bailey, suggested that travellers would not question an announcement stating that the delays were caused by a Welsh dragon breathing fire into one of the tunnels further down the route!

In any event, dragon or not, my sister did not abandon the train. She waited patiently until the freight train fires were put out and the train moved on. She completed her journey and arrived eventually at Euston station in London.

As I write, news has come through that a train taking Labour party members away from their 2008 Manchester conference has been delayed by a man with a gun on the track near Rugby. I doubt if any of them abandoned their train. As they sit through the delay, they can at least celebrate the fact that the Conservative lead over Labour has been cut in half!

In the Soap Opera ‘Coronation Street’ one character asks another:

“What do you do if you fall off your horse?”

“Sell it for glue?”

“Get back on’t horse!”

People not only ‘get back on the horse’ showing persistence, they also show ingenuity when their travel plans go awry. They think up alternative plans or get help from someone else who knows more than they do. Recently, I had to get help from the RAC or Royal Automobile Club.

On my way out of Brighton, earlier this year, I found that leaving was much more difficult than I had anticipated. I tried to escape from the numerous traffic jams, road works, hills and narrow roads of Brighton but my car started overheating and the water in the radiator boiled over and left the car smoking and smouldering.

I felt like abandoning the car till the next day. A kindly traffic warden told me he would turn a blind eye to this! I could have stayed at a hotel for the night but instead I rang the RAC and waited for help. None came until I rang again and they said that a rescue car had been despatched to Eastbourne, a lovely little town on the South Coast but not Brighton!

I was beginning to feel a bit like Bill Foster, the character acted by Michael Douglas, in the film ‘Falling Down’, who loses the plot when he is sacked and caught up in the mother of all traffic jams on a very hot day.

However, after further frustrating delays a very efficient RAC mechanic finally arrived who fixed my car well enough for me to get home. Unlike Bill Foster, I did not end up attacking or shooting any one! Instead, I reached home with my car in one piece and without the police hunting me down with guns.

In fact, the traffic surveillance police were after me! Soon after arriving home, I had a letter from Brighton and Hove council fining me for entering one of their bus lanes! They kindly sent me a photograph to prove this.

Most of us, then, show determination, focus and ingenuity if we are on a journey. We get help if necessary but we complete our journey. However, we are far too ready to give up when things do not go right for us in business or in our attempts to achieve our other goals.

If we are trying to make money writing a book, we give up at the first rejection by a publisher. That is one ‘red light’ too many for us. We give up trying to make money on the internet when it involves far more work and learning than we were led to believe by those who promised quick cash. We give up the first time we are refused a date. A more determined person gets the woman or the man!

Some martial arts students give up the first time they fail a grading exam. They don’t see it as just one obstacle or ‘red light’ on their way to their goal of blackbelt. One of my best students, who could easily have reached his blackbelt, gave up the first time he failed a test.

People who are trying to achieve a worthwhile goal are too ready to say:

“I quit!” “I’ve had enough!” “I give up!”

It is well known that no one achieves success by quitting or giving up. The roads would be packed with cars from one end of the country to th
108b
e other if drivers gave up. Once in a blue moon you may have to leave your car and walk.

About thirty years ago, I was driving in South East London. Smog descended, as it used to in those days, so that I could only see about a yard in front of me. I abandoned the car on a bridge in Abbey Wood. I could not drive on without risking an accident. But that is the only time I can remember giving up on a car journey.

I also remember driving to Southend in a blizzard when the visibility was almost as bad as on that foggy day. That time I stupidly stayed in the car and completed the journey although both I and my passenger were scared stiff of crashing throughout a hair raising drive.

Let’s then transfer our ruthless determination to complete our journeys to our other goals. Let’s keep right on ‘to the end of the road’ until we have published that book or made those sales or mastered that skill. There are always many alternative ways of reaching your goals. Try them out before you give up. Get help when you need it.

Think daily of all the benefits that will flow from achieving just one of your goals and such thoughts will draw you along to the completion of your ‘journey’ whatever it may be. Decide what are the most important things you must do to achieve your goals and give most of your time to these activities.

Make them the first things you do each day.

Attitudes are transferable. If we can show persistence in one area of life, we can show similar persistence in another. We can all choose what we will do first thing in the day. Do your key tasks before reading your emails!

Sir Harry Lauder wrote a song shortly after his son was killed in action in the first world war. The chorus sums up the spirit of persistence which we all need not only when we are travelling but when we are trying to complete our other ‘journeys’.

“Keep right on to the end of the road,

Keep right on to the end,

Tho’ the way be long, let your heart be strong,

Keep right on round the bend.

Tho’ you’re tired and weary still journey on,

Till you come to your happy abode,

Where all the love you’ve been dreaming of

Will be there at the end of the road.”

May you achieve the results, the joy and even the love which awaits you when you reach the end of your ‘journey’.

John Watson’s ebook ‘The 36 Laws’ could help you to ‘reach the end of the road’ and achieve your dreams and goals. It is full of practical and memorable advice that takes you from the start to the finish of any goal imaginable. Take a look at:

I was on the brink of Bankruptcy, when I stumbled upon some radical information concerning the Banking System, Money, the Law and how the Government has deceived us from childhood.

Now I have stopped paying towards my “debts”, without breaking the law and without being taken to court. In fact I am about to start legal processes on the “lenders” that will most likely result in the accounts being closed and me refunded any money paid into these accounts.

I got a parking ticket earlier. I sent one Notice to the Brighton & Hove City Council, and I have not heard one thing about that matter since.

DVLA took me to Court for not being willing to pay an exorbitant fine. A few letters and brief court appearance and a new court appearance was part of the learning curve. Now after a Notice to the Court where I asked for certain things to be clarified and gave a week for the Court to come back with concrete answers or this matter would be considered closed. They did not, and received a Notice of Default, on the matter from me.

So from feeling like a cornered mouse, I now feel like a lion. I know WHO I am and WHAT I am in the eyes of the Law.

It is a LIE that the Government is above us. They have tricked us to believe that this is the case – and they do their very best to make sure we never find out the truth.

Consider this: Who created you? The Government? – NO!

Nature/Life/God? Yes! Who created the Government? Man did!

How can the creation be senior to the Creator? It can’t!

What the Government created was your “Person”. This is your name written in CAPITAL LETTERS that you see on all official documents. You have been led to believe and been led to agree by signing various forms, that you are this entity – which is a lie.

The Government have no power over the natural being (Body & Soul) and have done a very good job of making us believe that we are the “Person” and not the Human Being.

They tax the “Person”. They fine the “Person”. They own the “Person”, so they can.

You can break that bond and become independent again and free to live life on your terms. You can make the Person work for you.

I am not saying that you should take my word on this. If I could get you to try to prove me wrong, I would be happy. You need to look into this for yourself.

A good place to start is an E-Book about a woman who was broke and desperate, and by using this kind of knowledge now have no financial worries, she pays no tax, she drives an unregistered car that she pays no tax for and has Bond in place as insurance, and she gets the tax man to send her money each year. Her name is Mary Croft and the book is called “How I clobbered every Cash confiscatory Agency know to Man”.

You may have noticed how our liberties are eroding at an accelerating rate. If you learn more about this you can free yourself and teach others around you to do the same.

We are many that are engaging in a peaceful rebellion.

I hope you will join us.

Kent Bengtsson

I have done a fair amount of research in the field of how the Government and it’s agencies use deceit to trick us into into becoming their servants – when in fact they are our servants.

At my website I will introduce you to a group that deals with this, among other things. Trough it you can also get Mary Crofts book and a template on how to deal with Fixed Penalty Charges.

http://www.freeyourself.mekeda.co.uk – More Info
http://squidoo.com/lesstax

The English town of Burgess Hill is located in the county of West Sussex close to the coastal town of Brighton. It has been administered by its own civil authority called Burgess Hill Town Council since 2006.

Burgess Hill takes its name from a historical resident called John Burgeys and has been in existence since the 11th century. It is not known for sure which hill in the area is the one after which the town is named. There are two probable landmarks. One is the present sighting of the town’s railway station, the other is a hill on which a Burgess Farm is sited. It is known that Burgess Hill was in succession part of the parishes of Clayton followed by Keymer and then Ditching. The land on which most of the present day town centre is located was once common land habited by the farming tenants of these three parishes.

The traditional economic activity of Burgess Hill was sheep rearing. Sheep were driven to London along the London to Brighton Road but this practice died out after the birth of the railways and the development of the mainline train route from Brighton to the capital. Industry began to appear in Burgess Hill from the 18th century. Brick and tile making became important mainstays of the local economy.

With the growth of industry, open common land began to get built upon and thus was the beginnings of the residential town. Occupancy of Burgess Hill significantly increased with the development of nearby Brighton. Middle classed professionals began to move to the area and by the mid 19th century Burgess Hill had already assumed its suburban character that has survived till the present day.

By the mid 20th century Burgess Hill was one of the largest towns in Sussex. Housing estates were built and people were resettled to the town from surrounding run down areas. Today, Burgess Hill is a cosmopolitan town and the administrative seat of many national and international companies. It has modern supermarkets and shopping complexes and is home to a mainly middleclass population.

Burgess Hill represents civil rural community and a town a situated in the Mid Sussex region of West Sussex, near to the limit with East Sussex. It is located 38 miles south of capital London and 10 miles north of the city of Brighton. It occupies 2, 339. 57 acres and had 28, 803 inhabitants at the time of the 2001 Census. Some nearby towns comprise Lewes to the southeast and Hayward’s Heath to the northeast.

Burgess Hill is mainly located on the West Sussex part of the perimeter that divides the two counties, even though some territories of the World’s End district from the north east are situated crossways the boundary from East Sussex.

The town of Burgess Hill has a twinned connection with Abbeville in France and Schmallenberg town in Germany. It has achieved lately the rank of a Fairtrade Town. Also, the Burgess Hill Town Council won the status of the Town Council in 2006.

Even if a Roman road from London to Brighton Way was constructed by the Romans between London to the South coast and passing all the way through the area of nowadays Burgess Hill, there is no proof that the Romans have settled here.

The town has its roots in the communities of Clayton, Ditchling and Keymer. All these parishes are mentioned in the Doomsday Book. The Burgeys family gave the town its name, as the name John Burgeys is mentionedin the income tax rolls. In the Elizabethan period a group of people had established there itself and a lot of buildings that date from this age still stand nowadays.

By the seventeenth century little level tile and brick production was prosperous and during this period some parcels from the common land were transferred in property for small businesses and house building. Brick manufacture extended by the eighteenth century and t one or two alehouses and four shops on the common were established then. Craftsmen such as shoemakers’, weavers and smiths also worked there. Hand Brickmaking was undertaking till very recent times, by Keymer Tiles. His tiles are to be found in buildings like as Piccadilly, St. James Church or in the Manchester Central Station.
